The Flyers' first-round pick from last summer's draft is putting on quite a showing for the United States.
The 2023 IIHF World Championship is well underway, and one of the Flyers' top prospects is turning heads with his stellar play for the United States.
Cutter Gauthier, selected with the No. 5 overall pick in the 2022 NHL Entry Draft, has been on a tear in his eight games in the tournament. So far, the 19-year-old has logged nine total points and a team-leading seven goals.
Gauthier's latest goal came Thursday in the United States' 3-0 victory over Czechia when he beat Karel Vejmelka with a quick wrister off the faceoff. This comes just a few days after he netted a hat trick against France in a 9-0 blowout.
The U.S. is currently undefeated at the Worlds.
Gauthier will be returning to Boston College next season in hopes of bringing a national title to Beantown, but his inevitable jump to the NHL is likely to come soon after his second collegiate season concludes.
Gauthier isn't the only Flyer appearing at the Worlds. Scott Laughton (Canada) and Ronnie Attard (United States) are also gunning for gold for their respective nations.
Laughton has played particularly well for Canada, logging a goal and five total points in seven games while Attard has posted one goal in four contests.
