Cutter Gauthier's first exchange with John Tortorella sure was something.
Everyone knows John Tortorella has a fiery personality. Whether he's on the bench, in the locker room, or talking to the media, Torts is always full speed ahead with intense energy.
That even includes when he meets one of the Flyers' up-and-coming players for the first time, apparently.
Cutter Gauthier, the Flyers' No. 5 overall pick from last summer's draft, appeared on the Empty Netters Podcast to talk about his experience at Boston College, as well as his road to the NHL. He also revealed what it was like meeting Tortorella for the first time, and his story is exactly what you'd expect it to be.

"The first story I have of him was this past summer at development camp. It was at their practice facility and we were in the locker room. He was giving everyone a speech," said Gauthier.
"Everything's done, he walks out and everyone's walking out to the next thing. We had a pretty busy schedule that week. Everyone's just walking right by him. He's talking to a couple other staff members or whatever it may be. Everyone's just blowing him off, walking right by.
"I moved a staff member out of the way, I was like, 'Hey, Cutter Gauthier, it's really nice to meet you. I'm looking forward to playing for you soon.' He's like, 'F*** yeah! I love that s***! It's great to meet you too!' I was sitting there like, 'Uhhh, it's nice to meet you too! I'm glad you're that pumped to meet me!"
It may be another year or two before Gauthier actually gets to play under Tortorella. Last month, Gauthier opted to return to Boston College for a second season. The 19-year-old is coming off a strong campaign as a freshman, logging 16 goals and 37 points in 32 games.
"(Going pro) was on the back of my mind I would say in the second half of the season creeping up to that day when I made that decision. I was definitely thinking about it a lot, but at the end of the day, talking to my parents, talking to my advisor, it was just best for me I felt like. It was a no-brainer after I put all the pieces together, the pros and cons of going pro and pros and cons of coming back another year, there was no need to rush it."
Boston College finished the season ranked eighth in the Hockey East standings with a record of 8-11-5, but Gauthier is hopeful the team will take a big step forward next season.
"We have a real good class coming in and we've got some good recruits coming in, so I was super pumped to turn things around this upcoming year and win some games," said Gauthier.
"To end off on maybe a national championship, or at least Beanpot, something big, and then turning pro, I think that would be a dream come true."
