After missing a majority of Pittsburgh Penguins training camp, Jake Guentzel will slot into the lineup.
After missing most of training camp following an offseason ankle surgery, the Pittsburgh Penguins have confirmed that Jake Guentzel will be in the lineup to start the season.
After initially being projected to miss the first couple of weeks of the Penguins season, Guentzel is back far sooner than expected.
Head coach Mike Sullivan confirmed Guentzel’s addition to the lineup after initially labeling him as a game-time decision.
When the Penguins announced their opening night roster, they had listed only 12 forwards and Guntzel was among them.
Traditionally, hockey teams utilize 12 forwards for a game and that roster release was a good indicator of the plans.
The Penguins start their season against the Chicago Blackhawks and the NHL debut of one of the most highly doubted prospects in recent memory in Connor Bedard.
With Guentzel in the lineup and Erik Karlsson set to make his debut with the Penguins, there is no shortage of storylines to follow.
