The Pittsburgh Penguins will look to respond after Sunday's no-show against the Carolina Hurricanes.

The Pittsburgh Penguins have another huge game against one of the best teams in the league on Tuesday night.

They're set to play the Colorado Avalanche for the second time this season after they thumped them 7-2 in Denver back on Mar. 16. It was a complete team performance and got the Penguins two big points in the standings.

They'll now try to complete the season sweep against the Avs, but it's going to be tough since they're not going to be thrilled about what happened in that first matchup.

Nathan MacKinnon is having another MVP-caliber season, compiling 45 goals and 114 points in 68 games. He scored one heck of a goal against the Penguins in that previous matchup.

Martin Necas has also been spectacular, racking up 32 goals and 86 points in 66 games. Brock Nelson always loves scoring against the Penguins and is having a dynamite season for the Avs. He's tied for second on the team in goals with Necas and also has 57 points.

Cale Makar does everything on the backend and is elite in all three zones. He's an absolute force with the puck on his stick and is close to unstoppable once he gets going.

The Avs are getting some reinforcements back for this game as Ross Colton and Logan O'Connor were full participants during the morning skate. They also got captain Gabriel Landeskog back recently after he missed the first game between these two teams.

As for the Penguins, Evgeni Malkin is day-to-day with an upper-body injury and won't play in this game. He appeared to hurt his hand after blocking a shot during Sunday's game against the Carolina Hurricanes

Ryan Shea looks ready to return to the lineup after missing one game. He's set to be on the third defensive pair with Connor Clifton.

Here's a look at the projected lineup for the Penguins:

Forwards

Rakell-Crosby-Rust

Chinakhov-Novak-Mantha

Koivunen-Kindel-Brazeau

Soderblom-Dewar-Acciari

Defensive pairs

Wotherspoon-Karlsson

Arturs Silovs will start in goal for the Penguins.

Puck drop is set for 7 p.m. ET on SportsNet Pittsburgh. Fans can also listen to the game on 105.9 'The X.'
