It was a historic day for Pittsburgh Penguins forward Evgeni Malkin on Saturday.
It was the Evgeni Malkin show inside PPG Paints Arena on Saturday.
The legendary Pittsburgh Penguins forward became the 23rd player in NHL history to record 1,400 points, and also recorded his 14th hat trick in a 9-4 win over the Florida Panthers.
Malkin has joined Sidney Crosby and Mario Lemieux as the only players in franchise history to record 1,400 points with the Penguins.
The win got the Penguins to 94 points, keeping them in second place in the Metropolitan Division. Malkin finished the game with three goals and four points, helping the Penguins get closer to clinching a playoff spot for the first time since the 2021-22 season.
Malkin now has 18 goals and 57 points in 53 games this season. He will try to add to those totals on Sunday when these two teams play again in the second half of the back-to-back.
Puck drop is set for 3 p.m. ET on SportsNet Pittsburgh.
