Sidney Crosby has officially surpassed the franchise legend for a major record
After tying the record in a 7-3 win on Monday against the Philadelphia Flyers, Pittsburgh Penguins captain Sidney Crosby has officially passed franchise legend Mario Lemieux for a major franchise record.
With his assist on Michael Bunting's power play goal in the second period against the New York Islanders on Sunday, Crosby recorded his 1,034th career assist, which surpassed Lemieux for the most assists by a player in Penguins' franchise history.
Crosby needs just seven more to surpass Marcel Dionne on the NHL all-time assists list and move into the top-11. He needs 16 more to surpass Gordie Howe to break the top-10.
Crosby is now up to 10 goals and 40 points in 37 games on the season.
