Jack Roslovic is the top free-agent forward still on the open market.
He hit the market on July 1, but instead of signing with a team right away, he opted to take his time and sort through his options. He's still doing that now, though Elliotte Friedman reported on the latest edition of the 32 Thoughts podcast that five to six teams are still considering Roslovic.
Roslovic spent the 2024-25 season with the Carolina Hurricanes and compiled 22 goals and 39 points in 81 games. Before that, he spent time with the Winnipeg Jets, Columbus Blue Jackets, and New York Rangers.
He makes sense the way Anthony Mantha does for the Pittsburgh Penguins when they signed him to a one-year deal when free agency opened. The Penguins are hoping to get some good value out of Mantha, like they did with Anthony Beauvillier before they traded the latter to the Washington Capitals for a second-round pick during last season's trade deadline.
The Penguins have the cap space to sign Roslovic, but their forward room is already pretty crowded, and that's still with the likes of Bryan Rust and Rickard Rakell still on the roster. He may want to join a team where he is guaranteed top-six minutes, given his performance last season.
If the Penguins had moved one of Rust or Rakell already, it would make a bit more sense. That said, he's more than likely going to sign with a contender once he makes a decision.
