Pittsburgh Penguins general manager Kyle Dubas will be the director of player personnel for Team Canada, continuing a legacy of team executives in international hockey.

On Tuesday, Pittsburgh Penguins general manager (GM) and president of hockey operations, Kyle Dubas, was named director of player personnel for Team Canada at the upcoming 4 Nations Faceoff and 2026 Olympics.

With this honor, Dubas becomes just the third Penguins executive to serve in a role with their home country while maintaining one with the NHL franchise.

Kyle Dubas - Team Canada

  • Assistant GM - World Championships 2024
  • Director of Player Personnel - 4 Nations Faceoff 2025
  • Director of Player Personnel - Olympic Games 2026

Ray Shero - Team USA

  • Assistant GM - Olympic Games 2014

Craig Patrick - Team USA  (Hall of Famer)

  • GM - Canada Cup 1992
  • GM - Olympic Games 2002

Additionally, Patrick served as the assistant general manager and assistant coach with USA, which won the Gold Medal at the 1980 Olympic Games before beginning his NHL career.

During his time with the New York Rangers in the 1980s, he was the head coach of Team USA at the 1987 Calgary Cup and then an assistant coach at the 1989 World Championships.

Meanwhile, former GM Ron Hextall served Team Canada as an assistant GM in 2014 and then GM in 2017 at the World Championships. However, he was an executive with the Philadelphia Flyers at the time.

When Dubas shows up for his job with Canada, he'll see a familiar face in the room with Penguins captain Sidney Crosby, one of the first six players named to the lineup.
