Get to know new Penguins' forward Cody Glass, who was acquired in a trade with the Nashville Predators this summer

On Fridays during the 2024-25 season, The Hockey News - Pittsburgh will spotlight a Penguins' player through a rapid-fire Q&A session using "get-to-know" questions.
This week, I sat down with Penguins' forward Cody Glass, who was acquired in a trade with the Nashville Predators this summer:
Favorite pizza topping: Pepperoni. I know that's basic, but it's the best.
Hockey idol growing up: I had a couple. Sid, obviously. But Jonathan Toews is from Winnipeg, he made it to the NHL through Winnipeg. So that was another guy I kind of looked up to.
Famous person you'd like to have dinner with: Wayne Gretzky. He's an all-time great, so I'd love to just pick his brain.
Favorite food: Salmon or steak. One of those two.
Favorite snack: I've been big into almond flour crackers and hummus. That's my go-to snack right now. My wife eats really healthy, so that's my number one. But if I had to pick, like, a kid's snack that I eat all the time, it'd be Welch's fruit snacks.
Can't go wrong there. Those are so good. Definitely the best fruit snacks. Every time. I have to get them every time. If I see them when I go to Costco, and they have that massive box, I have to get them.
Favorite movie: Shawshank Redemption.
Favorite hockey movie: I love Miracle. I'm Canadian, but I'd say Miracle is my go-to.
Favorite horror movie: I'm actually a big horror movie person, so this is a good question. I just watched Black Phone, that was pretty good. That one's creepy. But I'd probably say, like... ugh, I'm forgetting the name right now.
Is it a slasher movie? A suspense movie? No, no, it's an actual paranormal movie, but I'm forgetting the name of it. I'll just say one of the Insidious movies, or The Nun. That one was terrifying.
I like Sinister. A couple of guys have said that one. That's the one! That's the one. I kept thinking Insidious, but Sinister's the one that freaked me out. That one's freaky.
Best costume from Halloween: One year I went as a Penguin. That was pretty funny. I was in Vegas at the time. Ted Lasso, I went as him two years ago, that's probably my favorite that I went as.
If you could own one exotic animal, what would it be? Probably a tiger or a lion. I just see the little baby cubs, and I'm just, like, those are so cute!
Go-to karaoke song: It changes all the time. My go-to would be... actually, I'm not sure what it would be right now. I'd say... "Summer Nights" from Grease.
It's a zombie apocalypse. You get one item (not counting your phone), and one teammate to bring. What and who are you bringing? Am I on, like, an ocean? If so, probably a water filter.
It's a zombie apocalypse, you're wherever you feel like you need to be! Maybe a lighter... no, actually, I'll bring a fishing rod. And I'd probably pick Gravy to bring. Gravy's from the islands, so he'd do a pretty good job of helping me out.
Gravy said he needed a partner for his karaoke song, "Party for Two". If you're not sure of your song, you could always partner up with him for that, too. There you go! That'd be a good one, actually.
Adult beverage of choice: I'm not a big drinker. But I'd say a Finnish Long Drink. It's pretty good.
Fruits or veggies? Fruits.
Are you a morning or a night person? Night.
Dogs or cats? Dogs.
Are you a late or an early arriver? Early. Anxiety kicks in. I CANNOT be late.
Coffee or tea? I don't drink either, but if I had to pick on, probably coffee.
Street hockey or mini sticks? Mini sticks, for sure.
