

Five Pittsburgh Penguins' prospects are suiting up for the World Junior Summer Showcase from Jul. 27-Aug. 2 in Minneapolis, Minn.
Forward Benjamin Kindel and defenseman Harrison Brunicke will be representing Team Canada, while Will Horcoff and Mac Swanson will go to Team USA's camp and Melvin Fernstrom - acquired in the Marcus Pettersson trade from the Vancouver Canucks last season - will dress for Team Sweden.
Team USA, Finland, and Sweden kicked off scrimmages Sunday, with Horcoff (24th overall in 2025) and Swanson (207th overall in 2024) both suiting up for Team White. Earlier in the day, Team Blue dropped the Showcase opener to Team Sweden, 5-2, while Team White later defeated Finland, 5-2.
Then, on Monday, Finland beat Team Blue, 3-2, and Team White lost to Sweden, 4-3. Horcoff recorded a goal in the loss.
Team Canada will have an intrasquad scrimmage on Jul. 29 between its Red and White squads. Both Brunicke (44th overall in 2024) and Kindel (11th overall in 2025) will dress for the Red squad. Canada will face Finland on Jul. 30, Sweden on Aug. 1, and Team USA on Aug. 2.

In eight games with Pittsburgh to finish the year, the 22-year-old forward recorded seven assists. This included ending the season on a five-game point streak, where he recorded six helpers over that span.
