Former Pittsburgh Penguins draft pick Filip Hållander is among the top scorers in the SHL this season.

The Pittsburgh Penguins drafted Filip Hållander in the second round (58th overall) of the 2018 Draft.

He briefly played in the NHL, appearing in three games between 2021 and 2023, simultaneously playing 104 games with the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins.

Today, Hållander is skating with Timrå IK in the SHL and has 14 points thanks to five goals and nine assists in ten games. He currently ranks third in league scoring behind David Tomasek (17 points) and Oskar Steen (14 points).

After the Penguins selected him, the native of Sundsvall, Sweden, opted to remain in his home country to play with Timrå IK, the association he joined as a 13-year-old in 2013. He made his senior-level debut with the club in 2018-19, scoring 21 points in 45 games.

From 2019 to 2021, Hållander skated with Luleå HF in the SHL, scoring 38 points in 78 games, including 13 goals and 20 assists. He came to North America for two seasons before returning home last season, scoring a career-high 14 goals and 36 points with Timrå IK.

Thanks to a hot start in 2024-25, the 24-year-old is on pace for 73 points and could finish with over 25 goals and 40 assists.
