Liam Ruck got the chance to practice with Sidney Crosby's group on Saturday and loved it.
Pittsburgh Penguins prospect Liam Ruck was promoted to Group A for Saturday's training camp practice.
He practiced with most of the prospects in Group C on Thursday and Friday before practicing with Sidney Crosby's group.
He scored a couple of nice goals during the session and did several drills with Avery Hayes, who is jockeying for a roster spot.
Ruck found out he was joining Crosby's group after Friday's practice and was super excited.
"Yesterday in the afternoon, I saw the schedule and saw I was on a different team. I was excited for the opportunity, and it was cool to be out there with those guys," Ruck told reporters after Saturday's practice.
He also liked seeing the habits in Crosby's game when the latter was doing his thing.
"He does a lot of things right," Ruck said. "Not a lot of holes in his game. He's a pretty complete player. It's fun seeing what he's doing out there, and I just try to learn from him as much as I can."
The Penguins selected Ruck in the first round of the 2026 NHL Draft before selecting his twin brother, Markus, in the second round. Markus is scheduled to skate with the third group on Saturday.
We'll see if one or both of them play in one of the four preseason games the Penguins have scheduled for next week.
