Pittsburgh Penguins defenseman Erik Karlsson is now in the top 10 all-time for points among defensemen.
Despite the Pittsburgh Penguins' 5-4 loss to the Montreal Canadiens on Saturday night, Erik Karlsson had himself a great game.
He scored a goal and finished with three points, which thwarted him into the top 10 all-time for most points by a defenseman. He now has 952 points after this performance.
He tied Brent Burns for the 10th-most points by a defenseman all-time before surpassing him by the end of the game.
Karlsson is one of the best defensemen of all time, and it's only a matter of time before he passes Larry Robinson for ninth on this list. After that, he'll try to pass Brian Leetch, who finished with 1,028 career points.
Karlsson continues to lead the Penguins in points through 14 games, even as the team is on a two-game losing streak. They lost to the Utah Mammoth in heartbreaking fashion on Thursday before losing this game.
The Penguins are now 5-7-2 after Saturday's loss and will face the Vegas Golden Knights on Tuesday. After that, they'll host the Boston Bruins before their annual California trip.
