Pittsburgh Penguins defenseman Caleb Jones is set to miss the rest of the 2025-26 season after undergoing successful surgery on his right shoulder.
Jones had surgery on Mar. 18 and is expected to be out for four to six months. He's expected to be ready for the start of the 2026-27 season.
Jones appeared in seven games for the Penguins this season, compiling only one assist.
Before undergoing shoulder surgery, Jones suffered a lower-body injury at the end of October, knocking him out of game action for almost three months. He was sent to Wilkes-Barre/Scranton on Jan. 12 before getting hurt on Jan. 14.
Jones was then suspended 20 games on Feb. 4 for "violating the terms of the NHL/NHLPA Performance Enhancing Substances Program." The suspension ended on Tuesday of this week, before the Penguins announced that he'd be out for the rest of the season.
Jones has one year left on his contract after signing a two-year deal with the Penguins last July.
