The Pittsburgh Penguins signed 26-year-old forward Connor Dewar to a two-year contract extension Thursday after a career year in 2025-26.

When Pittsburgh Penguins' forward Blake Lizotte signed a three-year contract extension earlier this year, many were wondering when it was going to be linemate Connor Dewar's turn.

And his day has finally arrived.

On Thursday, the Penguins inked Dewar to a two-year contract extension worth $2.25 million annually, meaning he is locked up through the end of the 2027-28 season. The Penguins also signed defenseman Ilya Solovyov to a one-year extension on Thursday.

The 26-year-old Dewar was initially dealt to the Penguins just prior to the 2025 trade deadline when Pittsburgh acquired him and defenseman Conor Timmins from the Toronto Maple Leafs for a 2025 fifth-round pick. Before coming to the Penguins, the 2018 third-round pick by the Minnesota Wild notched previous career-highs in goals (11) and points (19) split between the Wild and the Leafs in 2023-24.

After registering four goals and seven points in 17 games with Pittsburgh after the trade last season - he only had three points in 31 games with Toronto - the Penguins hoped they had unlocked something with Dewar. And after a career year in 2025-26, it appears they have.

This season, Dewar put up 14 goals and 30 points to go along with a plus-16, the best mark among Penguins' forwards. He was also part of that formidable fourth-line unit with Lizotte and Noel Acciari, who not only played tough defensive zone minutes and killed penalties, but who also combined for 34 goals and 74 points (despite Lizotte playing only 55 games due to injury).

It remains to be seen whether Acciari, 34, returns to the Penguins next season along with Dewar and Lizotte. He is a pending unrestricted free agent.
