The Pittsburgh Penguins have made yet another new hire on their organizational coaching staff.

On Wednesday, the Penguins named Evan McFeeters as a Minor League Roving Coach. He is expected to join both new Wheeling Nailers (ECHL) head coach Ryan Papaioannou's staff and Wilkes-Barre/Scranton's (AHL) head coach Kirk MacDonald's staff on a rotating basis.

McFeeters, 37, is the latest hire for the Penguins' developmental staff, which has grown steadfastly since Fenway Sports Group (FSG) took over in 2021 and since current GM and POHO Kyle Dubas took the reins in the summer of 2023.

“We are extremely excited to add Evan to the organization,” Penguins' Assistant General Manager Jason Spezza said. “Evan has a passion for development, and in his role, he will help increase cohesion between our AHL and ECHL coaching staffs, further emphasizing the importance of our four-tiered approach to development.”

McFeeters has been coaching for a decade and a half, and his latest gig was with the Prairie Hockey Academy's U18 Prep Squad last season. He also has ties to Penguins' prospect Tanner Howe - who he coached with the Regina Pats of the Western Hockey League (WHL) in 2023-24 - and Papaioannou, as McFeeters was an assistant coach and assistant GM of the Brooks Bandits from 2020-22, where Papaioannou coached. From 2016-23, he coached in the Alberta Junior Hockey League (AJHL).

In addition to helping out with coaching at both the ECHL and AHL levels, McFeeters will also assist with Director of Player Development Tom Kostopoulos's staff to work directly with prospects and aid in their growth.
