The Pittsburgh Penguins have a new Chief Financial Officer.

The Pittsburgh Penguins have named Ted Towne their new Chief Financial Officer.

Towne comes over from the MLB's Washington Nationals, where he spent almost two decades. Most recently, he served as the team's CFO and oversaw the Nationals' financial planning, analysis, and operational strategy.

From 2014-22, Towne served as the Nationals' Assistant General Manager and Vice President of Finance, and helped lead them to the 2019 World Series title.

The Nationals beat the Houston Astros in seven games to win that championship.

“I’m honored to join the Penguins at such an exciting time,” Towne said in a statement. “The Hoffmann family has shown a real commitment to this team and the city of Pittsburgh. I look forward to working alongside Geoff, Marcel, and the entire organization as we build a financial foundation that supports and ensures the Penguins’ success both on and off the ice, as well as in our community.”

The Penguins are currently 3-6-1 at the start of the season and will play their next game on Thursday against the Florida Panthers. It will be the first of three straight home games.
