Pittsburgh Penguins prospect Harrison Brunicke had to pass on his Team Canada invite for the upcoming World Juniors.

On Friday, Team Canada made a roster adjustment ahead of their World Juniors camp, bringing in Calgary Flames prospect Zayne Parekh to replace Pittsburgh Penguins prospect Harrison Brunicke, who won't be medically cleared to participate in the tournament.
Brunicke, drafted by the Penguins with the 44th pick in the 2024 Draft, hasn't played for the Kamloops Blazers since Nov. 11 after fracturing his wrist.
In 15 games, the 18-year-old defenseman from Johannesburg, South Africa, had 12 points. Meanwhile, Parekh will get a shot at cracking the Team Canada lineup. He has 30 points in 23 games with the Saginaw Spirit in the OHL.
When Canada announced its invitees to the cam last week, Parekh was not on the list, and that omission caused quite a stir online among fans who felt the 18-year-old from Nobleton, ON, was a lock to be on this year's team.
The 2025 World Juniors Championship begins on Dec. 26, 2024, in Ottawa, ON.
