Penguins forward Evgeni Malkin's home was broken into on Saturday during Pittsburgh's game against Ottawa

Not only was Pittsburgh Penguins star forward Evgeni Malkin still out of the lineup on Saturday against the Ottawa Senators with an upper-body injury, he also encountered some misfortune away from the rink.

Around the same time Saturday's game was taking place, Malkin's Sewickley Heights, Pa. home was broken into and bulglarized, according to a report by KDKA-TV's Jennifer Borrasso. Among the stolen items were his three Stanley Cup rings from Pittsburgh's 2009, 2016, and 2017 championships.

"Malkin has requested that his privacy be respected at this time and we will have no further comment on the matter," read a statement by the Penguins. The organization is working with local authorities and team security on the matter, which is an active investigation.

Malkin - who was on injured reserve at the time - returned to the lineup in a 3-2 loss against the Seattle Kraken on Tuesday night.
