PITTSBURGH – The Pittsburgh Penguins are in a must-win situation against the Nashville Predators and cannot afford to lose. If they do down and either of the Washington Capitals or Detroit Red Wings win, their playoff hopes are dead.

With so much on the line, the Penguins starting goalie selection was going to be huge. After allowing three goals against the Boston Bruins, Alex Nedeljkovic was pulled from his 11th straight start. Tristan Jarry came in relief, taking the ice for the first time in two weeks.

For their crucial game against the Predators, head coach Mike Sullivan announced that Nedeljkovic will be the Penguins starting netminder.

The decision could have gone either way, but Sullivan is sticking with the guy that has gotten the Penguins this far.

“Ned’s helped us win a bunch of games,” Sullivan said. “That’s the decision we went tonight.”

Nedeljkovic was not credited with the loss against the Bruins, maintaining his streak of 11 straight games without a regulation loss. In his last 13 games played, he has picked up an 8-0-3 record with a .900 save percentage.

The Predators might have sealed a spot in the postseason already, but they aren’t taking the night off against the Penguins. It’ll be a tough night and Nedeljkovic will look to have a big bounce back.
