The Pittsburgh Penguins add depth to their bottom-six by inking Blake Lizotte to a two-year deal on July 1.

After all the hustle and bustle at the opening of NHL free agency, the Pittsburgh Penguins agreed to terms with 26-year-old center Blake Lizotte on a two-year deal worth $3.7 million.
The undrafted forward played his college hockey at St. Cloud State before signing an entry-level deal with the Los Angeles Kings on April 2, 2019.
Lizotte has played in Hollywood for the past six seasons, appearing in only one game with the Ontario Reign in the AHL during the 2019-20 season.
Thus far, his resume includes 320 games, 37 goals, 106 points, and 154 penalty minutes while averaging 12:44 in ice time a night.
His best NHL season came in 2022-23 when he appeared in 81 games, lit the lamp 11 times, and finished with 34 points.
As a bottom-six role player, Lizotte has earned a career face-off win percentage of 50.4% and is not shy to play a physical game with 308 hits, averaging 61 a season.
After signing Matt Grzelcyk, Anthony Beauvillier, and Lizotte, plus retaining $1.25 million of Reilly Smith's contract after his trade to the New York Rangers, Pittsburgh has roughly $4.2 million left in cap space to make any further additions to the lineup.
