The Pittsburgh Penguins will be featured in the NHL's second completely animated game broadcast.
PITTSBURGH – When the Pittsburgh Penguins take on the Boston Bruins on March 9, it will be a special presentation for the league. The NHL announced that puck drop between the Penguins and Bruins in Boston will be their second ever “Big City Greens Classic.”
The NHL is once again joining forces with Disney and their television channels to broadcast a completely animated live hockey game. According to the NHL, the multi-cast will feature live virtual reality recreations of the game between the Penguins and Bruins.
Players on the Penguins and Bruins will be modeled after the Disney Channel animated series “Big City Greens” and will be aired live on ESPN+, Disney Channel, Disney XD, and Disney+. The traditional broadcast of the game will be held on ABC and ESPN+.
This will be the Penguins first time hitting the ice following the March 8 NHL trade deadline.
The first “Big City Greens Classic” was held last year between the New York Rangers and Washington Capitals.
