Ryan Shea has been recalled to the NHL by the Pittsburgh Penguins.
The Pittsburgh Penguins are ready for games in back-to-back night to cap off 2023, but not without the recall of a first-year defenseman.
Prior to puck drop against the St. Louis Blues, the Penguins have recalled defenseman Ryan Shea from the AHL.
Shea is in his first season with the organization after signing a one-year deal with Pittsburgh in during free agency.
Out of training camp, Shea earned a spot on the Penguins’ roster, and made his NHL debut shortly after opening night, but after 22 games played, he was placed on waivers and sent to the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins.
In 22 NHL games, Shea did not record a point and was a minus-two while averaging 12:28 of ice time.
During his time with the WBS Penguins, Shea played in four games without a point.
No further announcement was made clarifying why the Penguins made this move or if Shea will be back in the lineup against the Blues.
