The Pittsburgh Penguins are finally raising Jaromir Jagr's number 68 to the rafters.

The Pittsburgh Penguins are finally raising Jaromir Jagr's number 68 to the rafters.

The Pittsburgh Penguins are riding high after three straight wins in California. To pile on with the good news, the organization dropped a huge announcement. The Penguins will finally recognize and retire the number of one of the greatest to ever do it, Jaromir Jagr.

In a long overdue move, the Penguins announced on social media that Jagr's No. 68 will be raised to the rafters. Jagr will join the likes of Mario Lemieux and Michele Briere as the third player in team history to have his number retired.

The ceremony and banner raising will take place on February 18th at PPG Paints Arena, prior to the Pens' matchup against the Los Angeles Kings.

Jagr is one of the most accomplished players in Penguins and NHL history. A two-time Stanley Cup winner, he ranks second all-time in league scoring, with 1,921 career points.

Along with a banner raising, every fan in attendance that night will receive a commemorative replica banner and a Jagr bobble head will be given away on March 14.

Plans for this moment have been in the making for a number of years, and it seemed like the Penguins initially wanted to wait for Jagr to officially retire from hockey.

At the age of 51, Jagr is still playing professional hockey in his native country of Czechia with Kladno.
