The Pittsburgh Penguins captain is going to have an eventful time at the NHL Skills Competition.

The Pittsburgh Penguins head into the All-Star Break in the final wild card spot of the Eastern Conference. How has Sidney Crosby Performed to this point in the season?

Not only is Pittsburgh Penguins captain Sidney Crosby teaming with his good friend Nathan MacKinnon for an event during the NHL Skills Challenge, it looks like he’ll also be alongside a heated rival.

Crosby is the only Penguins representative and will apparently compete together with Washington Capitals All-Star Alex Ovechkin.

According to ESPN’s Greg Wyshynski, Crosby and Ovechkin will be paired together during the NHL Breakaway Challenge.

For those curious, the Breakaway Challenge is the trick shot competition and what could two future Hall of Famers like Crosby and Ovechkin come up with for a trick shot?

Crosby and Ovechkin have combined for 1,353 goals and counting as both are still chasing down monumental milestones.

The Penguins captain still has plenty of years left to play and has been climbing the all-time points list while Ovechkin is closing in on the all-time goals record.

If the two do something together in the Breakaway Challenge, it won’t be the first time Ovechkin and a Penguins star had a little fun during the event.

In 2009, Ovechkin got some help from fellow Russian Evgeni Malkin who dressed him in a hat and sun glasses before skating in with two sticks.

Crosby and Ovechkin have been rivals on the ice since the start of both of their careers in 2005 and have linked ever since.

The two participating in the same skills competition will just be another chapter in their story.

The winner of each skill competition will earn $30,000.
