The Pittsburgh Penguins have exchanged forwards with the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins.
PITTSBURGH – The Pittsburgh Penguins are making a forward swap as the final stretch of the season arrives. After being a healthy scratch for the last few games, the Penguins have re-assigned Sam Poulin to the American Hockey League.
In Poulin’s place, the Penguins have recalled forward Radim Zohorna to the NHL roster. Zohorna hasn’t played a game at the NHL level since mid-January after having a relatively decent start to the year.
In his first 13 games of the 2023-24 season, Zohorna scored six points and was a regular face in the bottom six. After some time, however, it felt as if he just wasn’t worthy of an NHL role anymore.
In 31 NHL games this year, he has picked up four goals and three assists for seven total points.
Zohorna has spent most of the year with the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins, where he has played 29 games with nine goals and 16 assists for 25 points.
It’s unlikely Zohorna makes the NHL lineup without an injury to an active player. The Penguins have liked their current combination of players and shouldn’t make any unnecessary changes.
