The Pittsburgh Penguins handed each of their annual awards to their captain Sidney Crosby
PITTSBURGH – 2023-24 was the season of Sid for the Pittsburgh Penguins as their captain Sidney Crosby dominated the annual team awards. As voted on by his teammates, Crosby was chosen as the Penguins Most Valuable Player and Player’s Player.
In his 19th season, Crosby is winning the Penguins MVP award for the 12th time tying him with Mario Lemieux for most in franchise history. It is also Crosby’s fourth consecutive year receiving the honor.
Crosby has played all 78 games up to this point and has led the Penguins in goals (40), assists (46), and points (86). This is Crosby’s third 40-goal season and the 19th year he has reached a point-per-game average.
With four games remaining, Crosby is on pace to lead the Penguins in points for the 14th time in his Hall of Fame career.
The Player’s Player Award goes to the player who best exemplifies team leadership both on and off the ice. This is Crosby’s sixth time winning the Penguins’ Player’s Player Award.
Crosby was also previously chosen as the Penguins Masterton Trophy nominee.
