SportsNet Pittsburgh has hired a new Pittsburgh Penguins rinkside reporter.

SportsNet Pittsburgh has hired a new Pittsburgh Penguins' rinkside reporter for the 2026-27 season.

The network announced on Monday that it has hired Katie Florio for the role. She will join SNP for game coverage, and she'll have occasional studio host duties.

She will also join the network's coverage of some Pittsburgh Pirates games as a sideline reporter and studio host.

"Katie brings a rare combination of hockey pedigree, broadcast versatility, and genuine connection to the Pittsburgh community," said David Wisnia, President and CEO of NESN and SportsNet Pittsburgh, in a press release. "Her experience and deep roots make her an ideal addition to our Penguins coverage team."

Florio arrives in Pittsburgh after spending the last two seasons covering the Washington Capitals on Monumental Sports Network. She was a host/reporter for network shows and was a pre-game and post-game host for each Capitals game on the Capitals Radio Network.

To say that she's stoked for this job would be a massive understatement.

"Pittsburgh has always felt like home to me, and to get the chance to cover the Penguins here, where so much of my family still lives, means everything," Florio said. "I grew up around the rink because of my dad, and I've spent my career chasing that same passion for the game. I can't wait to bring that energy to Penguins fans every night on SportsNet Pittsburgh."

Florio replaces Hailey Hunter after SNP let the latter go during the offseason.
