
Macklin Celebrini will remain Team Canada's captain for the World Championships.
Despite being a late addition to the 2026 Team Canada World Championship roster, Sidney Crosby will not wear the "C" on his jersey.
Crosby will wear an "A" on his sweater after Hockey Canada announced that Macklin Celebrini will keep the "C" on his jersey. Celebrini was originally announced as the team's captain before Crosby joined.
Crosby, John Tavares, and Ryan O’Reilly will wear the "A" on their sweaters.
According to Chris Johnston, the players wanted Celebrini to keep the "C" even after Crosby was announced to the team.
Crosby and the rest of Team Canada will get the World Championships started on Friday with a matchup against Sweden. Puck drop will be at 10:20 a.m. ET.
The 2026 World Championships will take place in in Zürich and Fribourg, Switzerland from May 15-31.
