The Pittsburgh Penguins might be close to getting Tristan Jarry back between the pipes.

Jeff Carter continues to struggle through the 2022-23 season for the Pittsburgh Penguins.

Tristan Jarry has only played two games as starting goalie for the Pittsburgh Penguins since suffering a lower-body injury during the Winter Classic.

Shortly after returning from that injury, the Penguins stated that Jarry was going to be away from the lineup until after the All-Star break.

With the All-Star break behind us, Jarry is still yet to take the ice in game action; to be fair it’s only been one game, but it’s been a longer wait than expected.

The Penguins are in Anaheim preparing for the first of three games in California, and Jarry is back taking a practice with the rest of his team.

Jarry took in a morning skate prior to the Penguins game against the Colorado Avalanche, but that was a different situation.

This is a full-team practice and Jarry doesn’t seem like a passenger in the drills.

The fact Jarry is on the trip at all should indicate that he will return to the net for the Penguins in the very near future.

Head coach Mike Sullivan said following the morning skate a few days back that Jarry is making tremendous progress and was considered day-to-day.

The Penguins play Friday and Saturday in a back-to-back situation against the Anaheim Ducks and Los Angeles Kings; if Jarry is all good, it could be a safe assumption he will play in one of those games.

As of right now, Jarry is on injured reserve, but can be taken off at any time.
