    Last week, Wheeling Nailers' forward Gabe Klassen was the ECHL Player of the Week thanks to six points in three games. On Wednesday, the 21-year-old earned a promotion to the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins.

    The Nailers went 2-1-0-0 last week, powered by Klassen's four goals and two assists. He's collected seven points in the past five games and has 19 goals and 24 assists in 65 games in his first pro season. 

    Earlier in the campaign, Klassen made his AHL debut on Mar. 1 against the Hershey Bears. He played two games in WBS, including one against the Belleville Senators on Mar. 4. In those games, Klassen had no points but registered three shots on goal and was minus-1.

    The undrafted forward from Prince Albert, SK, played five seasons in the WHL with the Portland Winterhawks, serving two years as captain. He collected 265 points in 248 games thanks to 118 goals and 147 assists, equaling a 1.07 points-per-game average. 

    As a three-time 30-goal scorer in the WHL, Klassen scored a career-high 106 points in 2023-24.
