Pittsburgh Penguins captain Sidney Crosby scored a goal in three consecutive games, bringing his career total to 598, just two lamplighters shy of 600.
After one goal in the team's first 11 games, Crosby has five in the last nine periods, the 38th time in his illustrious career that he's tallied a goal in at least three games.
On Thursday, against the Carolina Hurricanes, he'll have a chance to extend the streak another game. If he does, it will be the 20th time he has scored in four straight.
The last time Crosby found the goal column in four games was from Feb. 27 to Mar. 8, 2022, against Florida, Carolina, Tampa Bay, and Columbus, with the last three on the road.
Considering the Penguins play back-to-back on Thursday and Friday, their captain has a chance to reach five consecutive games, which he has only accomplished on six occasions.
With one goal against Carolina and one against Washington, Crosby would reach 600 on the road at Capital One Arena on Friday night.
He could match his personal best goal streaks with upcoming matchups against Dallas (Monday) and Detroit (Wednesday).
Interestingly, the Penguins finish their current road trip with a visit to Washington, DC, where we will see Crosby go head-to-head with the red-hot Alex Ovechkin, who is inching closer to matching and surpassing Wayne Gretzky for career goals.
It would only be fitting if Crosby scored a milestone goal against his greatest rivalry.
