The Pittsburgh Penguins captain was in no rush to make it to his 10th All-Star Game.
PITTSBURGH – The NHL kicked off it’s 2024 All-Star weekend in Toronto, but Pittsburgh Penguins captain Sidney Crosby was absent for the first day of festivities. While the rest of the All-Stars were being drafted to their teams for the weekend, a video surfaced of Crosby getting in an on-ice workout in the state of Montana.
In the video originally posted to Instagram by @chmarksiv, you can see Crosby donning his Penguins practice gear while taking shots on an open net with snow top mountains in the background. Crosby seemed to have the Big Sky Ice Rink to himself for a solo session.
Crosby is in the midst of an outstanding and almost unexpected season considering he’s 36-years-old, but this work ethic is a good reason why he’s still at the top of his game.
The Penguins captain missed his name get called in the first round of the All-Star Draft to play with his good pal Nathan MacKinnon on Team MacKinnon. Washington Capitals All-Star Tom Wilson was also chosen to Team MacKinnon.
Instead of attending the event, Crosby has a brief pre-recorded thank you video sent in and a youth hockey player was represented him for the selection.
This is Crosby’s 10th All-Star Game selection, and considering the event has kicked off without him in Toronto, he seems to be in no rush to make an appearance.
