Pittsburgh Penguins center Evgeni Malkin has hit his second major milestone of the season, recording his 500th career NHL goal.

The tally came in the third period on a feed from none other than teammate Sidney Crosby, and it gave Pittsburgh a 4-3 lead over the Buffalo Sabres that would eventually turn into a 6-5 overtime win.

Malkin becomes just the fourth active player to reach the 500-goal milestone, joining Washington's Alexander Ovechkin, Tampa Bay's Steven Stamkos, and Crosby.

He is the 48th player in NHL history to score 500. He has tied Lanny McDonald, and he needs two more to surpass former Penguin Joe Mullen for 46th on the all-time goals list.
