The Pittsburgh Penguins have only had two president's in franchise history, and they are linked closer than many may realize.
From the first president of hockey operations in Pittsburgh Penguins history to the second, Brian Burke gave his thoughts on Kyle Dubas.
Burke spoke highly of his time in Pittsburgh and wished the best for Dubas and the Penguins as they embark on a new chapter.
“It’s a great city,” Burke said on Leafs Morning Take. “They’ve got some great pieces in place with a great captain. I wish Kyle every success. I hope he has great luck there.”
Burke also stated that he understood the decision of Fenway Sports Group, but he wishes he and Ron Hextall could have stuck around longer in the front office.
“We loved working there,” Burke said. “The only thing we’re unhappy about with Fenway is that we didn’t get to finish the job.”
Both Burke and Dubas have a special link that might go unnoticed; they have both served as not only Penguins president, but also general manager of the Toronto Maple Leafs.
From 2008 to 2013 Burke served as the Maple Leafs’ general manager, just five years before Dubas took over in 2018.
