The Pittsburgh Penguins are yet to get Tristan Jarry back between the pipes.
Just when everyone thought Tristan Jarry was getting closer to a return, the Pittsburgh Penguins announce that Casey DeSmith will continue to be the starting goalie.
Head coach Mike Sullivan stated following a practice that Jarry has been making significant progress and didn’t rule him out as Penguins starter against the San Jose Sharks.
Following the morning skate, however, Sullivan confirmed DeSmith will start his seventh consecutive start.
Sullivan said regarding Jarry that when the Penguins’ medical staff gives the thumbs up, Jarry will be back in the net.
“That has not been the case to this point.”
The Penguins are looking to finish their California swing on the right note with a win over the struggling Sharks.
DeSmith, himself, is looking to bounce back after being pulled against the Los Angeles Kings.
Through his 25 appearances this season, DeSmith is 9-11-4 with a .903 save percentage.
In other injury updates, Sullivan stated that defenseman Jan Rutta is also nearing a return but will not be available against the Sharks.
Rutta has been out of the lineup since January 16.
