The Pittsburgh Penguins have announced the creation of SportsNet Pittsburgh to air regionally broadcast games.
Not long after it was revealed Fenway Sports Group would be taking over AT&T SportsNet Pittsburgh, the Pittsburgh Penguins and president of business operations Kevin Acklin have confirmed the transition.
In a release from the Penguins, AT&T SportsNet will now be ‘SportsNet Pittsburgh’ and serve as the home for all regionally broadcasted games.
The network will start broadcasting games during the upcoming 2023-24 season and the transition will become effective on October 2.
Following the transition, the Penguins will become owners of the network with daily operations managed by New England Sports Network, an affiliate of Fenway Sports Group.
According to the Penguins, the station will continue to operate out of their North Shore studios and there should be no change to how fans can view games on television.
“Our top priority is to continue to deliver Penguins hockey, creative content tailored to our fans, and other exciting sports coverage of the region,” Acklin said. “SportsNet Pittsburgh also allows us to deliver our own quality production in collaboration with the expertise of NESN.”
More information and details are expected to be released at a later date.
