Evgeni Malkin has reached a number of milestones through the 2022-23 season, and the Pittsburgh Penguins veteran continues to solidify his legacy.
With the Penguins visiting the Anaheim Ducks, Malkin added another notch to his belt by eclipsing 1,200 career points.
Malkin entered the contest two points back of 1,200, and thanks to some dominant play, it was an easy couple of tallies.
It took Malkin 1,031 games to reach 1,200 points and he becomes just the third Penguins player to ever hit the milestone.
The 1,200 points are split between 463 goals and 737 assists.
Malkin joins Sidney Crosby (1,472) and Mario Lemieux (1,723) as the only Penguins to hit 1,200 points.
Crosby said that Malkin hitting a number like that shows the kind of consistency he brings to the lineup.
Penguins head coach Mike Sullivan and general manager Ron Hextall share those sentiments as they looked forward to watching Malkin play every game.
Malkin will one day find himself in the Hockey Hall of Fame, but for now he continues to add to his legacy, this time by hitting 1,200 career points.
Among active NHL players, Malkin is just one of four to hit the mark.
