It's the last chance for a number of roster hopefuls to prove their worth to the Pittsburgh Penguins.
The Pittsburgh Penguins have announced their roster for their upcoming preseason game against the Detroit Red Wings and it will be loaded with guys still looking for positioning in the organization.
To start training camp, the Penguins invited 58 players and have since trimmed the roster to 42; five players are currently on the injured list and four have been recalled for this game specifically.
Defenseman Ty Smith and Xavier Ouellet and forwards Avery Hayes and Rem Pitlick where the four players recalled.
Among the key forwards still fighting for roster spots are Vinnie Hinostroza, Alex Nylander, and Radim Zohorna, and they will have a chance in this lineup.
Prospects like Sam Poulin and Valtteri Puustinen will have a chance as they are yet to be cut from the roster and listed on the Penguins lineup.
Last minute addition Jansen Harkins will also make his informal debut with the Penguins just days after being claimed off of waivers.
On defense, Ryan Shea has been a surprising development and is fighting with Chad Ruhwedel and Mark Friedan for a role.
Three of the four remaining professional tryout contracts with the Penguins will be suiting up, as well; Austin Wagner, Colin White, and Libor Hajek are likely getting their last chance against the Red Wings.
Mark Pysyk had a chance at the roster, but was quickly moved to the injured list early in camp.
The Penguins have listed Alex Nedeljkovic and Magnus Hellberg as their goalies for the evening.
