The Pittsburgh Penguins got an important win, but they still need better from Tristan Jarry.

The Pittsburgh Penguins legend will hit another milestone this week.moreVideos

Pittsburgh Penguins goalie Tristan Jarry recently revealed that he has been dealing with ‘physical issues’ that may be impacting his play in net.

Thanks to the possible lingering injury and Jarry’s admitted lack in performance, the Penguins have been forced to utilize Casey DeSmith in goal a little more often.

Jarry was given the starting role to take on the Minnesota Wild and it was important for both the Penguins and Jarry that they left with a win.

The Penguins defeated the Wild rather handily by a score of 6-4, but Jarry still didn’t seem sharp.

You could make the argument that three, if not all four of the Wild’s goals should have been stopped by Jarry.

The first one was a broken communication between Jarry and defender Marcus Pettersson; as Jarry dumps the puck around the Wild immediately take control and score an easy goal.

The Wild would respond just 12 seconds later with another goal, this one a little goofier with a weird bounce off of Jarry, but he has to be able to track the puck and get the cover.

Not to mention that the two goals in 12 seconds tied the game and swiftly swung the momentum in Minnesota’s favor.

The Penguins would build another two goal lead thanks to some life out of their power play, but Jarry let the Wild creep around a little bit longer.

As the Penguins are playing with a man advantage late in the third period, the Wild create an offensive opportunity that ends up behind Jarry.

Sure, you can argue that the power play unit never should have given up that kind of scoring threat, but the shot wasn’t anything out of the ordinary.

Regardless of personnel on the ice, Jarry needs to make those saves every time.

The fourth goal came in garbage time so we won’t totally fault Jarry, but those first three need to be saves.

In total Jarry made 19 saves on 23 shots faced and continued a poor streak of giving up at least three goals in each of his last seven games.

It was a momentum building win for the Penguins as a whole, but Jarry is going to need a better performance if he himself wants to get back to normal, too.
