The Pittsburgh Penguins didn't have a great game, but Sergei Bobrovsky did.

The most recent loss to the Florida Panthers stemmed from sloppy play from much of the lineup, but the Pittsburgh Penguins were also beat by a stout Sergei Bobrovsky in net.

The Penguins only reached three shots on goal through the first period; while the final 40 minutes didn’t look much better, they at least managed to test Bobrovsky and make his job harder.

At the end of the night, the Panthers won 4-1 and Bobrovsky was square in the spotlight on multiple occasions.

The first came late in the second frame when the Penguins still had a chance to climb back into the game.

While trailing 2-1 in the final minute of the second period, Rickard Rakell entered the Panthers’ zone where he found Sidney Crosby through two defenders.

It seemed Crosby had Bobrovsky beat with a wide open net, but the puck stayed out of the net.

A sprawling Bobrosvsky managed to get his blocker on the shot and make a huge save; the Panthers went right back down and scored just 40 seconds later.

The Panthers eventually went on to win 4-1 but before the final whistle, Jason Zucker had a run in with Bobrovsky.

Both Zucker and Bobrovsky were reaching for a loose puck when Zucker kind of threw his back into the goalie.

Chaos immediately ensued with multiple Panthers piling onto Zucker; this was a spark that pushed the period to see 50 penalty minutes between the two teams.

Zucker said following the game that he never intends to hit goalies, but this was unfortunate circumstances.

The Penguins didn’t play a great game, but even if they did Bobrovsky was likely going to steal the show.

Bobrovsky made 31 total saves in the 4-1 victory and pushed the Panthers closer to the Penguins in the standings.
