The Pittsburgh Penguins need to look at every goalie option available, and that includes Carter Hart.

The Pittsburgh Penguins need to look at every goalie option available, and that includes Carter Hart.

During his introductory press conference as president of hockey operations for the Pittsburgh Penguins, Kyle Dubas said that goaltending is the most important position in the game.

Dubas will have a large decision to make when it comes to the Penguins’ goaltending situation, and every option should be on the table.

From looking at free agents, working out a big trade, or holding pat with Tristan Jarry, Dubas needs to leave no stone unturned.

A new name to appear in the rumor mill, and one that Dubas should take a look at, is Carter Hart from the Philadelphia Flyers.

It's being reported that the Flyers have started actively shopping Hart after acquiring Cal Petersen from the Los Angeles Kings.

Dealing with your rival is never ideal, but Hart is a young goalie who many believe has what it takes to be a starting caliber goalie in the NHL for a long time.

At only 24-years-old, Hart has already played in 201 games with the Flyers and started his career as one of the hottest young netminders in the league.

In Hart’s first 74 appearances, he picked up a 40-26-4 record and a .915 save percentage.

The last few years haven’t been as fruitful for Hart, but the Flyers haven’t given him much help.

Even with a bad 2022-23 season for the Flyers, Hard still held down a record of 22-23-10; the numbers aren’t great, but they can be improved with a better team in front of him.

You have to consider his age again, as well; at just 24, he’s already proven himself as an NHL starter when most goalies don’t even break into the league until that age or slightly older.

For a little comparison, Jarry was 24 when he played his first full season at the NHL level; Jarry is roughly four years older than Hart and has only played five more NHL games.

Trading for Hart is going to cost, but the Flyers could be looking at another year of rebuild mode if they send their star goalie out the door.

Hart has one season left at $3.979 million before becoming a restricted free agent; he is a valuable goalie and one worth taking a look at if your Dubas as the Penguins.
