Get to know new forward Anthony Beauvillier, who was signed as a free agent by the Penguins this summer

On Fridays during the 2024-25 season, The Hockey News - Pittsburgh will spotlight a Penguins' player through a rapid-fire Q&A session using "get-to-know" questions.

This week, I sat down with Penguins' forward Anthony Beauvillier, who was signed to a one-year deal in free agency this summer:

Favorite pizza topping: Pepperoni, probably.

Hockey idol growing up: Marty St. Louis.

TV show that you're binging right now: Friday Night Lights.

Favorite hockey movie: Miracle.

Famous person you'd like to have dinner with: Tiger Woods.

Favorite travel destination: St. Martin.

I'm guessing your favorite team growing up was the Habs? Yeah, the Habs.

Now, you were in Montreal for Thanksgiving. Do Canadians eat the same things as Americans do on the holiday? Anything different? So, we never really, like, celebrated Thanksgiving. We just got together as a family, but it was never, like, a big turkey dinner or anything like that, it was just being together. So, it's not as big in Canada, I would say. It wasn't as big in my household, either. 

Gotcha. So do you have a particular favorite Thanksgiving food at all? I really like when we do get a big group of family and stuff, we do fondue, like Chinese fondue, it's called. So, we did that when I went home for Thanksgiving. That's one of my favorite meals to have, for sure. 

I haven't had Chinese fondue yet. So I'm gonna have to try it! Yeah, it's really, really good. It's nice.

Favorite food: Steak or sushi.

How do you get your steak done? Medium-rare in Canada, and medium in the U.S.

Really? Is there a big difference? Yeah, it's a little bit different. Somehow. I don't know why.

Do they just cook it more in Canada? I don't know. I have no idea. Probably.

Song that you can't get out of your head right now: It's an older song, but "When It Rains, It Pours" by Luke Combs. Been into that one lately.

Go-to karaoke song: I would say... there's a lot of French songs, Quebec songs, that I like. But I would say, "Unwritten" by, uh, Natasha... something.

Natasha Bedingfield? I don't know. Maybe? 

If you could own one exotic animal, what would it be? Probably a tiger.

Adult beverage of choice: Wow. I like a lot. I can't have, like, the same drink for more than two.

Any Tito's at all? For your namesake? Yeah... sometimes. But what's, like, my go-to drink? Hm. I would say... a tequila mule. 

Dogs or cats? Dogs.

Fruits or veggies? Fruits.

Are you a morning or a night person? Morning.

Are you a late or an early arriver? I'm an early arriver, yeah.

Coffee or tea? Coffee.

Street hockey or mini sticks? Street hockey.
