The Pittsburgh Penguins placed former fourth overall pick Jesse Puljujarvi on waivers on Dec. 30. Today, he cleared and can be assigned to the AHL.

On Tuesday afternoon, former fourth overall pick Jesse Puljujarvi cleared waivers, a day after the Pittsburgh Penguins allowed the 26-year-old to seek a spot with another team.

Yesterday's move didn't surprise anyone since Puljujarvi hasn't skated in a game for the Penguins since Dec. 7, skating 11:15 in a 5-2 win over the Toronto Maple Leafs.

After signing with Pittsburgh as a free agent on Feb. 4, 2024, Puljujarvi has played in 43 NHL games, scoring six goals and 12 points. His career totals are 51 goals and 112 points in 317 games.

Initially selected by the Edmonton Oilers as the fourth overall pick in the 2016 Draft, Puljujarvi has played 66 games in the AHL since making his North American debut in 2016-17, scoring 19 goals and 46 points in the minors.

The native of Alvkarleby, Sweden, is now eligible to be sent to the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins. He played 13 games with the club last season and scored four goals and nine points.
