Alex Ovechkin scored two goals on Monday night, tying him with former Pittsburgh Penguins legend Jaromir Jagr for the NHL record for goals against 178 different goalies.

Washington Capitals captain Alex Ovechkin scored his 867th and 868th goals on Monday night against Connor Ingram and the Utah Hockey Club.

With his first two career lamplighters against Ingram, Ovechkin tied Jaromir Jagr for the NHL record for goals against 178 different goalies.

Jagr, who played in the NHL from 1990 to 2018, with a break from 2008 to 2011, has held the record for the past seven years since departing the league after 22 games in 2017.

On Mar. 15, 2022, Ovechkin passed Jagr, who ranked third on the all-time goal-scoring list with his 767th career tally, before becoming only the third skater to reach 800 goals on Dec. 13, 2022.

Considering that Ovechkin has 64 games left to play this season, it's almost guaranteed that he will break Jagr's mark and could achieve the feat in the Capitals' next game against the Colorado Avalanche on Thursday.

However, his quest to catch Wayne Gretzky's record of 894 goals might have suffered a setback after departing the game with a lower-body injury.
