The native of Sundbyberg, Sweden became just the 37th Swedish-born player in NHL history to reach 500 points. He is now two points behind Marcus Johansson for 36th on the country's all-time scoring list.
Rakell is a 13-year veteran who spent ten seasons with the Anaheim Ducks and the last three and a half with the Penguins. He's a two-time 30-goal scorer and has reached 20 on five occasions.

Overall, the 31-year-old has 228 goals and 272 assists in 783 games, counting statistics through the first period of Sunday's game.
Regarding Rakell's place in the Sweden record books, he ranks 26th in goals and 46th in assists.
