Despite their overall disappointing start to the season, there is one big reason to be somewhat optimistic looking ahead - and it starts with the big guys. The Pittsburgh Penguins [https://thehockeynews.com/nhl/pittsburgh-penguins/]' organizational history has a plethora of great players, and we've decided to go through the best Penguins' players to wear each jersey number [https://thehockeynews.com/nhl/pittsburgh-penguins/latest-news/best-penguins-by-jersey-number-73]. Today, we continue the list by naming the best #74 in Penguins' history. Only one player in franchise history has worn #74, so he is, in fact, the best player in franchise history to wear the number. The best #74 in Penguins' history is defenseman Jay McKee. [embed]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gD1z4yZ76HE[/embed] McKee was drafted 14th overall by the Buffalo Sabres in 1995. He only played in one season for the Penguins - the final season of his NHL career in 2009-10 - after signing with Pittsburgh in free agency. He scored one goal and registered 10 points that season for Pittsburgh, but that's not what he was known for. A defensive-oriented defenseman, McKee was also known to drop the gloves. And he did that a few times against some of the league's biggest heavyweights at the time.
