Who is the best player in Penguins history to wear #74?

The Pittsburgh Penguins' organizational history has a plethora of great players, and we've decided to go through the best Penguins' players to wear each jersey number. Today, we continue the list by naming the best #74 in Penguins' history.

Only one player in franchise history has worn #74, so he is, in fact, the best player in franchise history to wear the number.

The best #74 in Penguins' history is defenseman Jay McKee.

McKee was drafted 14th overall by the Buffalo Sabres in 1995. He only played in one season for the Penguins - the final season of his NHL career in 2009-10 - after signing with Pittsburgh in free agency.

He scored one goal and registered 10 points that season for Pittsburgh, but that's not what he was known for. A defensive-oriented defenseman, McKee was also known to drop the gloves. And he did that a few times against some of the league's biggest heavyweights at the time.

Over the course of his NHL career, McKee registered 21 goals, 125 points, and 622 penalty minutes in 802 games.
