During last night's 5-1 loss to the Nashville Predators, San Jose Sharks head coach David Quinn and forward Tomas Hertl put the team on blast.

The San Jose Sharks lost to the Nashville Predators 5-1 last night, and forward Tomas Hertl blasted his team for a lack of response.

Late in the third period, Nashville defenseman Roman Josi and forward Filip Forsberg crashed the net and ran into Sharks goalie Mackenzie Blackwood. Blackwood would be okay, but his teammates around him didn't stand up for him.

"I just didn't like the last 10 minutes because we just left [Blackwood] alone," Hertl said postgame. "He's on his back. You have to just be there to step up. Like if it's 5-1, you have to cross-check somebody and show them that they can't do anything. I'm more mad about the last couple of minutes because we just left our goalie alone."

Hertl emphasized that he wasn't happy again when SJHN's Sheng Peng asked him to explain.

"Nobody cares if anybody takes an extra two minutes," Hertl explained. "I think the locker room is great, but especially after our goalies stand on their heads for us, they play both really well, and we have to show them that we are there for them."

Sharks head coach David Quinn wasn't happy either.

"That'll be addressed," Quinn said postgame. "You got to protect your goalie. I don't care if you're friends or not. You got to protect your goalie."

The lack of response is not a good sign for the San Jose Sharks. In a season where the team is expected to struggle, the players need to be there for each other, and that wasn't the case last night.
