Adam Gaudette was reportedly under the weather this morning and remained a game-time decision for tonight’s matchup against the Utah Mammoth.
His choice? He won’t be confined to the bench, that’s for certain. Gaudette is set to start the game.
The 29-year-old, a native of Braintree, Massachusetts, was selected in the fifth round (149th overall) by the Vancouver Canucks in the 2015 NHL Entry Draft and was spotted on the ice for warmups, according to NHL.com’s Max Miller.
Gaudette has recorded a goal and an assist over his last five contests. His most recent goal came on November 28 against the very team that drafted him, helping the Sharks secure a 3-2 victory over the Canucks. Vancouver’s goaltender Yaroslav Askarov delivered a standout performance, making 32 critical saves to keep their team ahead.
Though Gaudette may not be a household name, he is on track for what could be the most prolific season of his NHL career in his eighth year. He is currently projected to finish with 22 goals and 8 assists for 30 points, which would establish a career-high in goals.
The Sharks are set to take on the Utah Mammoth at 9 p.m. local time in San Jose.
